PESHAWAR: Two facilitators of Saturday’s terror attack on Sarband Police Station in Peshawar, which claimed the lives of DSP Badaber, Sardar Hussain and two constables, were killed in an overnight Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) on Saturday.
The operation was jointly conducted by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police over credible reports about the presence of the facilitators of terrorists within the vicinity of Police Station Sarband in the outskirts of Peshawar.
During the raid, cross-firing continued for hours during which two facilitators were killed.
Killed terrorists were associated with banned TTP
The killed terrorists were identified as Gul Hai and Hazrat Omar alias Mansoor, both of whom were hardened criminals and wanted by Police in cases of heinous crimes.
Gul Hai was wanted for his involvement in several cases of extortion and IED (Improvised Explosive Devise) bombings. While Hazrat Omar was wanted by CTD over his involvement in a suicide blast on AIG Ashraf Noor, ANP leader Haroon Bilour as well as several other cases of extortion and target killing.
Two AK-4 Rifles, two bandoliers, a hand grenade and dozens of cartridges were also recovered from the dead terrorists. Meanwhile, two or three of their accomplices escaped the scene by taking advantage of pitch darkness.
These terrorists were associated with the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Police force have reached the site and started combing operations in adjacent areas in search of the escaped terrorists. — APP
