DHAKA: The Turkish International Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has inaugurated another children’s park at the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.

Turkish ambassador to Dhaka Mustafa Osman Turan inaugurated the park while TIKA coordinator in Bangladesh Sevki Mert Baris attended the inauguration ceremony at camp no.5.

Park offers different sports activities

The newly-built park will be offering different sports activities and it will be a source of entertainment, TIKA said in a statement.

TIKA has already established a park for children at the no. 16 Rohingya camp.

Over 1.2 million persecuted Rohingya refugees are living in 33 congested makeshifts camps in Bangladesh. Most of them fled a military crackdown in their home country’s state Rakhine in August 2017.

The UN and other official records showed that more than 500000 of the Rohingya in the large refugee settlements in Bangladesh are children who need better education and living facilities.

TIKA said that such parks will help Rohingya children grow up in a healthy environment. –AA/APP
