ISLAMABAD: With the onset of the snowy season, a large number of tourists from all over the country have started visiting hilly areas to enjoy the snowfall season.
Large crowds of tourists were witnessed in popular tourist destinations including Murree, Malam Jabba, Naran, Kaghan, Swat, Kalam, Hunza, Chitral, Ziarat, and Kashmir, according to media.
Although, the number of both local as well as foreign tourists has reportedly witnessed a significant increase after the first snowfall of the season, but visitors are facing difficulties related to lodging and increased rates amid the closure of several hotels and businesses before the start of the ongoing spell of snowfall.
Road closures amid snowfall
Amid the closure of other roads, the only currently available route to the above destinations is the Karakoram Highway.
A large number of visitors in Swat complained that many hotels in the area were already booked and requested the concerned authorities to take action against those who were taking advantage of the current situation.
Visitors are advised to check weather advisories, road situations, and routes before leaving for the above destinations.
