LAHORE: Pakistan Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Amir Muqam handed over a cheque of Rs10 million to veteran Pakistani artist Firdous Jamal for treatment of cancer.
The prime minister’s adviser visited the home of the actor in Park View Society in the provincial capital Lahore to hand over the cheque on behalf of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as financial support from the “Federal Government Artists Welfare Fund.”

Muqam said that the government is taking steps for the welfare of artists, whom he termed society’s asset. Muqam said the premier was happy to approve the financial support for Jamal’s medical care and also prayed for his speedy recovery.
The Sayeeban Sheeshay fame actor thanked the government for the financial support.
Earlier this month, the prime minister met the ailing actor and promised to bear his medical expenses. PM Sharif also inquired after the health of the 68-year-old actor during a phone call and assured of full support.
The legendary artist’s son previously revealed that his father had just received a cancer diagnosis and was receiving treatment. The Pride of Performance winner has contributed to the Pakistan entertainment industry over several decades.
