SHANGHAI, China: A knife attack at a Shanghai supermarket on Monday night left three people dead and 15 others injured, according to local police.
The attacker, a 37-year-old man named Lin, was arrested shortly after the incident. Authorities reported that the attack stemmed from Lin’s frustration over a “personal financial dispute.” Eighteen people were taken to the hospital, where three victims succumbed to their injuries, while the other 15 sustained non-life-threatening wounds.
Violent knife attacks are not uncommon in China, where strict firearm laws have led to an increase in such crimes in recent years.
