RIYADH: The Royal Commission for Riyadh City has expanded the transport network by launching the third phase of the Riyadh Bus service, as part of the King Abdulaziz Project for Public Transport.

The Saudi Press Agency highlighted the strategic significance of the service, describing it as a catalyst for Riyadh’s economic and urban metamorphosis. This initiative is closely aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, aimed at advancing the transportation sector’s growth.

With the inauguration of latest phase, the project’s network has now expanded to 33 routes, collectively covering a distance of 1,284 km. This extension incorporates 565 buses and a comprehensive network of 1,611 bus stops.

The Project has five phases. After competition of all five phases by the end of 2024, the network will cover 1,900 km, as reported by the SPA.

A notable feature of the endeavor is the forthcoming launch of an online portal, intended to facilitate travel planning for those utilizing Riyadh’s bus services.

Since its inaugural launch in March, the Riyadh Bus service has already served an impressive count of over 4 million passengers. The initiative’s initial phase witnessed the deployment of more than 340 buses across 15 distinct routes.
