ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Pakistan for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal with regard to the rights and protection of women in Pakistan announced that the government had established a national-level task force.
Ahsan Iqbal made the announcement at the conclusion of a ceremony dedicated to the campaign against Gender-Based Violence. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning Development & Special Initiatives of Pakistan.
The Planning Minister said that without the active participation of their women no nation can seek development and prosperity. He mentioned China and Bangladesh as examples of this and added that both countries have exhibited significant development by giving their women full representation in decision-making.
Planning Minister Regretted
The Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal regretted during the conclusion campaign against GBV, the condition of women in past, as women as gender were not given equal representation and ultimately Pakistan could not get development.
Planning Minister on Women’s Participation
Ahsan Iqbal, however, anticipated women’s participation in multiple fields and said that now Pakistani women’s participation is escalated in multiple fields, specifically in the education sector, and Pakistani women’s participation is recorded to increase.
Ahsan Iqbal said that the enrollment of female students is high in comparison with that of male students which is a positive indicator, for women’s development in Pakistan.
