PANAMA CITY: A flight from Panama to the United States made a u-turn on Friday after a suspicious package was found in the toilet of the aircraft, Western media reported.

Panama’s civil aviation authority at first said the Copa Airlines flight between Panama City and Tampa, Florida, had to return back because of the bomb threat.

After landing safely the plane was emptied of passengers while a police explosives unit thoroughly searched the aircraft.

Airport security head Jose Castro said the security officials later came to know that the object was in fact a disposable adult diaper wrapped in a bin bag.

Police have also posted a photo of the suspect package on social media.

Scoot, the subsidy of Singapore Airlines in the statement said a precautionary decision was made to turn the aircraft back to Singapore due to a bomb threat after an hour of flight. Later the pilot said that the bomb threat could be a hoax.
