Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia: Flood victims and civil society groups on Sumatra are clamouring for international aid nearly three weeks after the massive deluge ravaged the Indonesian island. More than 1,000 people were killed and another 205 remain missing. Calls are growing for the government to declare a national disaster and allow international aid to flow in. “Anything that can improve the condition of the community,” says local government worker Siti Rahmah.
