ISLAMABAD/SCOTLAND: Sudanese-British wildlife cameraman, presenter, and Strictly Come Dancing winner Hamza Yassin has said that he cannot wait to hear from the Glasgow audience when the live event comes to Scotland.
The programme’s final live tour stop will be in Glasgow. Hamza expects that half of his hometown of Ardnamurchan will attend to watch him perform in the arena. The wildlife presenter said the Kilchoan community had highly supported him throughout the competition, he won the competition in December. He expressed excitement for Glasgow’s roar and wished the home audience would support him.
Hamza won the viewer vote in the final of the 20th series of the BBC One celebrity dance show, but he was surprised by the support of his neighbours in mainland Britain. He stated that everyone was so proud of him, and he was proud of them for their help in getting him through the journey.
Dance lessons before participation in Strictly Come Dancing
Hamza had never had dance lessons before participating in Strictly Come Dancing, but villagers claimed to bring out his inner dancer.
Hamza, 32, relocated to Kilchoan, on the peninsula of Ardnamurchan in Lochaber, beside the Sound of Mull, more than a decade ago and has since created a career as a photographer and documentary filmmaker from there. He immigrated to the UK when he was eight years old and received degrees in zoology with conservation, biological imaging, and photography. He then worked on TV shows like CBeebies’ Let’s Go For A Walk, The Animal Park, and Countryfile.
A professional dancer, Jowita and Hamza said they had good memories of the TV program and enjoyed the Strictly tour. After the incident, Jowita declared they would remain “friends for life.” She claimed that when she first met Hamza, I could tell he had it, the moves, and the potential to win the competition. I asked him for both trust and energy. He gave me a lot more, and everything paid off.
