Special Anti-Polio Drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from October 30

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to run a five-day special anti-Polio campaign in three districts of the province from October 30. 

According to officials at the Emergency Operations Center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 1,243,000 children under the age of five will be vaccinated against polio in the Peshawar, Khyber, and Hangu districts. 

Officials said that, In the course of the five-day anti-polio campaign, it is projected that 900,000 children in the Peshawar district will receive vaccinations. The Khyber district is slated to reach 229,000 children, and over 112,000 children in the Hangu district are part of the target group.

4,438 Teams Formed to Vaccinate Children Against Polio

To achieve this, a total of 4,438 teams of trained polio workers have been organized, comprising 3,874 mobile teams, 294 fixed teams, and 270 transit teams.

Furthermore, the EOC official stated that 1,103 area in-charges have been appointed to oversee the anti-polio teams, and approximately 8,268 police personnel have been deployed to ensure the security of the vaccination teams.
