Spain Repatriates 2 Women, 13 Children from Militant Camps in Syria

ISLAMABAD: The government of Spain Tuesday revealed that two Spanish women who had married members of a militant group had been repatriated from Syria. The women had flown from their camps in Syria along with 13 children.

The group arrived late on Monday and their flight landed at the Torrejon de Ardoz military airport, a short distance from the capital Madrid late on Monday. Around two months the Spanish government made a commitment to bring them home.

Women from Syria militant camps to face terrorism charges

The government statement stated that on arrival, the two women were arrested and that they appear at Spain’s top criminal court, Audiencia Nacional, in the coming days.

An official of the court confirmed that on Wednesday the two women would appear in court and face terrorism charges.

Regarding the fate of the children, the government statement said that Madrid region’s social services had taken them into their care.
