ISLAMABAD: Different parts of the country, including Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Jhelum, received showers on Wednesday while snow and sleet continued pounding Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, cutting off road links in many hilly areas across the country.
In Kalam, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 6 feet of snow has fallen so far, blanketing everything in white in the area.
The everyday communication and life system have almost come to a standstill in Azad Kashmir which has been lashed by heavy snowfall and rain for the many previous days.
The road routes have been closed in Pir Chenasi, Koh Makra, and Saran due to snowfall in Azad Kashmir.
The sole road which connects Lipa to Reshian has closed, and all the land routes in Upper Neelum, Azad Kashmir, have been closed from Keel.
Thousands of citizens living in these places have been trapped due to the closure of roads.
The State Disaster Management Authority Azad Jammu and Kashmir (SDMA) has advised citizens not to undertake unnecessary journeys in view of inclement weather.
Different places in Pakistan, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Jhelum, and Islamabad, received showers Wednesday (today).
Drizzling has been continued in Lahore last night, which turned the weather even chillier.
The temperature of the city has been recorded at 12 degrees Celsius.
Snow continues to Disrupt Life in Hilly Areas
According to the Metrological Department forecast, the weather could remain dry and cold in most plains of Pakistan on Wednesday.
There is a possibility of snow and rain in the mountains in North East Punjab, Islamabad, Potohar region, Kashmir, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Weather in the last 24 hours Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir received rain and snow in the mountains. In other parts of the country, the weather remained cold and dry.
Rain in (mm): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kalam 36, Patan 22, Saidu Sharif 15, Dir (Balai 14, Zarin 08), Mir Khani 13, Darosh 10, Chitral 07, Mardan 02, Kakul 01, Punjab: Murree 06, Islamabad (Zero Point, Airport 01), Gujranwala 01, Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (Airport 05, City 02), Rawalkot 04 and Gardhi Dupatta recorded 03 mm of rain. Snowfall (inches): Kalam 21, Malam Jabba 17, Mir Khani 08, Chitral, Dir 04, Drosh 03, and Murree recorded 02.
The minimum temperature recorded today: Leh minus 14, Kalat minus 09, Gopus, Skardumin minus 07, Kalam minus 06, Zhob, Parachinar, Quetta minus 05, Hunza minus 04, Murree, Panjgur and Astur recorded minus 03 degrees Celsius.
