SBP to Announce New Monitory Policy on Monday

KARACHI:  The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is going to announce its monetary policy on Monday, March 18.

According to a statement on Friday, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the SBP will convene on March 18 to finalize the Monetary Policy.

The MPC will review the overall financial and economic situation, data of different sectors, major indicators, and major developments taking place since the commencement of the previous monetary policy.

Later on, SBP will announce its Monetary Policy Statement through a press release on the same day.

The MPC of the state bank, in its meeting in January decided to maintain the policy rate at 22% while stressing on continued tight monetary policy and fiscal consolidation.

The MPC had observed continuity of the agriculture sector led to moderate economic recovery in fiscal year 2023-24 while momentum in the industrial sector was expected to take pace from the second half of FY24.

The MPC expected that real GDP growth would stay in the range of 2 to 3 % while average inflation might reduce in the range of 23 -25 % by the end of the current financial year.
