Saudi Minister Reiterates Support for International Efforts to Tackle Health Emergencies

RIYADH: Saudi health minister Dr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil, during a meeting of the G20 countries’ health ministers on Sunday, emphasized the importance of utilizing the initiative to increase the availability of tools for combating the Covid-19 virus.

This initiative was launched during Saudi Arabia’s G20 presidency in 2020, showcasing the Kingdom’s support for international efforts in adressing and preventing health emergencies.

Minister Al-Jalajil responded to a call from the Indian presidency to launch a global initiative for digital health, sharing Saudi Arabia’s experience in the digital transformation of healthcare and the artificial intelligence tools’ implementation, according to Saudi media.

During the launch ceremony, Al-Jalajil highlighted the necessity of collaborative actions for comprehensive health coverage and ensuring healthcare coverage of to those in need around the world.

Moreover, the minister attended a joint meeting of the ministers of health and finance, where he delivered a speech.

He explained that Saudi Arabia supports the collective efforts of the group and urged all relevant parties to benefit from the Pandemic Fund.

He also emphasized that this fund is the result of efforts launcged during Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the G20 in 2020 to bridge the funding gap for nations facing dire circumstances.
