MADINAH: The Emergency teams from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Madinah Region successfully revived the pulse of a 54-year-old Indonesian pilgrim after he suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest in the southern courtyard of the Prophet’s Mosque.

Director General of the authority’s Madinah branch, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani, said the medical dispatch centre received the emergency call early in the morning reporting a critical case at the site, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.

He added that specialised response teams were immediately deployed, arriving within a record time of one minute and five seconds. Upon assessment, the patient was found to be in cardiac and respiratory arrest.

Al-Zahrani added that the teams managed the case on site in accordance with approved medical protocols.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed using advanced equipment, with additional teams providing support to ensure a swift and coordinated response.

After stabilising the patient and restoring his pulse, he was transferred to Al-Salam Hospital to continue receiving necessary medical treatment. He emphasised that the rapid response and preparedness of the emergency teams played a crucial role in saving the pilgrim’s life.
