RIYADH: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at King Abdullah Port in Rabigh has foiled an attempt to smuggle 54 kilograms of cocaine, hidden in a consignment of bananas coming into Saudi Arabia through the port, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
ZATCA said it is committed to tightening customs control of the imports and exports of Saudi Arabia, stressing that it will stay vigilant to prevent any smuggling attempts in cooperation and coordination with its partners at the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the security of society.
The authority called on everyone to contribute to fighting the menace of smuggling to protect the society and the national economy by calling the hotline: 1910, via email: [email protected], or through the international number 00966114208417.
The authority receives reports pertaining to smuggling and customs violations in complete confidentiality and grants financial rewards to those who provide correct information about smuggling.
