RIYADH: Saudi Arabia will participate in the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, which will be held on the sidelines of the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva from July 6 to 7.

The Saudi delegation will be led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha and will include Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) President Abdullah Alghamdi, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia said its participation reflects the country’s growing role in information technology, data, and artificial intelligence under Vision 2030, as well as its commitment to contributing to the development of responsible global AI governance.

The Kingdom will use the forum to support international cooperation on AI governance, promote safe, inclusive and trustworthy artificial intelligence, expand equitable access to AI technologies, and contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Saudi Arabia also said the event provides an opportunity to strengthen international partnerships, exchange expertise, and advance the responsible use of AI in support of sustainable development and shared prosperity.

Other participants in the upcoming conference from the Kingdom include Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organisations in Geneva, Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila; Saudi Shura Council member and United Nations High-level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence member Latifa bint Mohammed Al-Abdulkarim; and representatives from the Saudi Human Rights Commission and the King Abdulaziz Centre for Cultural Communication.
