Saudi Arabia Summons Iraqi Envoy Over Drone Attacks from Iraqi Territory

The Kingdom vows to take all necessary measures to defend its security, territory

RIYADH:  Saudi Arabia has summoned Iraq’s ambassador, Safia Taleb Al-Suhail, in response to ongoing drone attacks and threats originating from Iraqi territory that have targeted Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.

“Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati delivered an official protest note, emphasising the Kingdom’s strong condemnation and denunciation of such attacks,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday.

He emphasised that Iraq must act responsibly to address these threats and reiterated the Kingdom’s categorical rejection of any violations of its sovereignty or attempts to destabilise regional security.

Furthermore, he affirmed that the Kingdom will take all necessary measures to defend its security and protect its territory.

Earlier, Pakistan-mediated talks between the United States and Iran concluded in Islamabad after more than 21 hours of intensive negotiations, with all sides signalling that diplomatic engagement will continue.
