RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack targeting a train in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.

The attack occurred on Sunday near Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, when a powerful explosion struck a passenger train carrying civilians and security personnel traveling ahead of Eid Al-Adha killing at least 14 people and injuring several others.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterates its complete rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism and strongly condemns attempts to undermine the security and stability of Pakistan and its people.

The Kingdom offered its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of Pakistan, while wishing continued security, stability, and safety for all.

As the nation united in grief with the people of Balochistan following the Quetta train attack, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the attack was aimed at harming civilians and diverting attention from Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional and global peace.

Earlier, China, Russia, Turkiye, Iran, the United Kingdom and Australia also expressed solidarity with Pakistan after the Quetta train attack.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, women, children and ordinary passengers were among those affected by the blast, highlighting how terrorists intentionally target soft civilian sites to spread fear and instability rather than confront the state directly.

The attack reflects the desperation of anti-Pakistan terrorist proxies that seek to disturb peace and create panic through indiscriminate violence against innocent people during a period of improving stability and normalcy.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies responded immediately, cordoned off the area, initiated investigations, and are pursuing all facilitators and perpetrators involved in the attack.
