WASHINGTON, USA: The International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) held its second meeting under the leadership of Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Chairman, Dr. Riyadh Al-Khorayef, in Washington, D.C. This gathering is particularly notable as it aligns with the 80th anniversary of the Bretton Woods institutions.
Dr. Al-Khorayef stressed the importance of the IMFC in fostering multilateral cooperation and providing strategic recommendations to guide the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its future initiatives.
During the meeting, participants reviewed key global economic developments and prioritized discussions surrounding pressing global issues. Al-Khorayef also engaged in discussions with IMF’s First Deputy Managing Director, Gita Gopinath, and various fund undersecretaries to enhance collaborative efforts ahead of the upcoming IMF meetings set for October 21-26, 2024, in Washington, D.C. These dialogues underscore the committee’s commitment to addressing critical economic challenges on a global scale.
