ISLAMABAD/RIYADH: Saudi authorities on Thursday issued weather warnings asking the public to exercise caution in the next two days as several regions braced for heavy rains and thunderstorms.
The Kingdom’s General Directorate of Civil Defence has predicted severe thunderstorms across Saudi Arabia on Friday and Saturday.

The authorities warned that moderate to heavy rains and active winds were expected in Riyadh, Hail, Qassim and the eastern province, with a prediction of flooding in some areas, Saudi Press Agency reported.

Saudi authorities also said Al-Jouf regions and its Northern Borders Province will receive moderate rains. They predicted thunderstorms and thunderclouds accompanied by active winds for Asir, Jazan and Al-Baha.
The Saudi authorities have issued the warnings based on data from the National Centre of Meteorology.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence has urged the citizens to brace for severe conditions and stay away from places that could face flooding and lightning.
