RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced a $506 million development package for Yemen, underscoring the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to supporting the country’s reconstruction, development, and humanitarian needs.
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Programme for Yemen (SDRPY) announced the launch of the new package, in addition to a new grant of petroleum derivatives to operate power plants in all Yemeni governorates, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The aid includes 28 projects in the health, energy, education, and transport sectors. The package includes a new grant of petroleum derivatives to operate power plants across Yemen.
The funding will see the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Programme for Yemen work with the Yemeni government and local authorities to support key institutions and services in Aden, Hadramaut, Al-Mahrah, Socotra, Marib, Shabwa, Abyan, Dhale, Lahij, and Taiz.
Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman said on X that the package “embodies the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen security and stability in Yemen.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Prince Khalid met Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council chief Rashad al-Alimi and discussed recent developments in Yemen as well as efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution to achieve stability in the country.
Al-Alimi said on X that the package of developmental projects announced by the Kingdom helps “improve services and livelihood opportunities, and reflects Saudi Arabia’s strong commitment to support the Yemeni state on all levels.”
The development projects announced today through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) form a cornerstone of the recovery and reconstruction phase across various governorates.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the Yemeni Shura Council Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Dagher praised the crucial role of the Arab Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in supporting Yemen, the SPA reported.
In a meeting in Riyadh with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Yemen Patrick Simonnet, he praised the coalition’s efforts to safeguard civilians, maintain Yemen’s unity, and advance peace.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Yemen and the European Union in humanitarian, development, and political fields, aiming to support the efforts of the legitimate government and local communities in achieving peace and stability.
Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, addressing a UN Security Council on Yemen, has also reiterated the Kingdom’s full support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and the government in their efforts to achieve security and stability in the country.
Dr. Al-Wasel expressed the Kingdom’s concern over recent military operations by the Southern Transitional Council along Saudi Arabia’s southern border in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah governorates.
He described these actions as a direct threat to Saudi Arabia’s national security, as well as to the stability and security of Yemen and the wider region.
