Saudi Arabia Affirms Solidarity with Bahrain, Kuwait amid Iranian Attacks

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday affirmed its solidarity with Kuwait and Bahrain amid continued Iranian attacks on the Gulf nations.

The Saudi Cabinet also strongly condemned the attacks as well as those targeting maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, saying these actions constitute a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet session held in Jeddah, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Cabinet reaffirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with the two brotherly countries and its full support for all measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty and security.

At the outset of the session, the Cabinet was briefed about the telephone conversation between Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the call, the two leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation, discussed regional and international developments, and exchanged views on ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet reviewed Saudi Arabia’s participation in regional and international meetings, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, promoting multilateral collaboration, and enhancing collective efforts to address regional and global challenges.

The Cabinet reaffirmed its support for the outcomes of the ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States, welcoming the reaffirmation of the strategic partnership between the two sides and their commitment to continued coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest to bolster regional security, stability, and shared interests.

On the domestic front, the Cabinet reviewed major infrastructure initiatives designed to support the Kingdom’s continued development. It noted the launch of a new phase of the Developed Districts Programme in Makkah and the start of the fourth package of projects under the Riyadh Main and Ring Road Axes Development Program, aimed at accommodating urban growth, enhancing the urban environment, improving quality of life, and expanding transportation services.

Al-Dossary added that the Cabinet also welcomed the launch of the inaugural Saudi Water Week, describing it as a national, regional, and international platform for advancing dialogue on global water issues, highlighting Arab priorities, and reinforcing the Kingdom’s leading role in the water sector.

The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s continued efforts to develop practical solutions and forge strategic partnerships that contribute to achieving water security, promoting the efficient use of natural resources, and accelerating collaborative efforts toward a more sustainable water future.

The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and the effectiveness of its proactive security plans in combating drug trafficking and apprehending smugglers and dealers.
