RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed seven ballistic missiles launched toward the Kingdom’s eastern region, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday.
The ministry said on X that seven incoming missiles were neutralised before reaching their intended targets.
However, debris from the intercepted projectiles fell in the vicinity of power facilities, and authorities are currently conducting a detailed damage assessment.
“Ballistic missiles launched toward the eastern region were intercepted and destroyed. Parts of ballistic missile debris fell around power facilities; damage assessment is underway”. said the statement.

Security measures across the region remain heightened as officials continue to monitor the situation closely. Saudi officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining national security and responding decisively to any threats.
The Ministry of Defence also reassured residents that all necessary precautions are in place, emphasising that defence forces remain fully alert to safeguard the Kingdom’s safety and stability.
