RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defence said that its air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 13 drones on Friday.

In a statement posted on X, ministry spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said the drones were neutralised before they could reach their intended targets.

He did not disclose the location where the drones were intercepted or their point of origin.

The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions following ongoing strikes by Israel and the United States on Iran since February 28.

In response, Iran has launched attacks on Israeli and US targets across the region, while also targeting neighboring countries that are not part of the conflict.

Security measures across the region remain heightened as officials continue to monitor the situation closely.

Saudi officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining national security and responding decisively to any threats.

The Saudi Ministry of Defence reassured residents that all necessary precautions are in place and that defence forces remain fully alert to ensure the safety and stability of the Kingdom.
