RIVONIA: Salman Khan, Chairman of the Kashmiri Action Group in South Africa, Book “Nelson Mandela on Kashmir” launched in a ceremony in Rivonia, South Africa, on Saturday.
The book delves deep into the complexities of the occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, offering insights into the Kashmiri people’s struggle for the right of self-determination.
This well-researched book presents a well-rounded perspective on the Kashmir conflict, offering valuable insights from an African standpoint. The event was held at the “Lilies Leaf Museum” in Rivonia, South Africa, and witnessed the participation of prominent local figures from diverse backgrounds, along with members of the Kashmiri and Pakistani communities residing in South Africa.
The event was live-streamed on various social media platforms in the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
During the event, Salman Khan spoke to the media, asserting that the Modi-led Indian government was resorting to various tactics to suppress the ongoing Kashmiri freedom movement. He highlighted that on August 5, 2019, the Modi administration revoked the special status of Kashmir and imposed a military siege in the region, aiming to alter the demographic balance of Jammu and Kashmir.
Khan conveyed that Indian security forces were perpetrating violence against innocent Kashmiris on a daily basis within the occupied territory. He called upon the United Nations and international human rights organizations to intervene and halt the brutalities inflicted by India in Kashmir. He emphasized that the resolution of the longstanding dispute should align with the United Nations’ resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Furthermore, Salman Khan underscored that Kashmir remains a pivotal issue, and the attainment of regional peace hinges on its equitable resolution.
