Russian President Tells Defense Industry to Provide Weapons for Forces in Ukraine

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked his country’s defense industry leaders to up their game to make sure that the Russian army quickly got all the arms, equipment, and hardware it needed to fight the war in Ukraine.

Putin made the comments during a trip to Tula, a center for weapons manufacturing. The Russian President said that the most significant key job of their military-industrial complex was to provide their units and forces with everything they (army) need including arms, ammunition, and equipment in the shortest timeframes.

He added that it is significant to perfect and improve the technical features of weapons and equipment for their fighters based on their combat experience. According to Reuters, the Russian President said earlier that the Russian military had to learn and fix the problems.

On Friday, the Russian President told defense industry leaders he wanted to hear their suggestions on how to solve problems and wanted specialists in the industry to directly work with frontline troops to refine arms and hardware on a regular basis. 

The United States (US) will approve aid for Ukraine after Zelenskiy’s visit to Washington. The US Congress also approved a package including aid for Ukraine. The package will be signed by US President Joe Biden.
