Key Points

  • India is funding both the BLA and TTP financially.
  • Israel is supplying technology and intelligence to these groups.
  • Afghanistan is providing territorial refuge and administrative support.
  • Pawar says all three countries’ interests converge against Pakistan.
  • Iran is described as a secondary target alongside Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: A retired Indian Army colonel and defence journalist has openly admitted on a YouTube podcast that India is providing financial support to anti-Pakistan terrorist organisations, while Israel supplies technology and intelligence, and Afghanistan offers territorial refuge — describing the three countries’ interests as converging against Pakistan.

The remarks were made by retired Colonel (retd) Rajesh Pawar during an appearance on the YouTube podcast News Book, hosted by Indian journalist Shubhankar Mishra.

“India is providing the money”

In the most direct portion of his statement, Pawar laid out what he described as a clear division of roles among three countries. Speaking partly in Urdu, he said that both the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were being given territorial refuge inside Afghanistan — land to operate from and administrative backing on the ground.

He then explicitly named each actor’s contribution: India is providing the money, and Israel is providing the technology and intelligence.

A convergence of interests

Pawar went further, stating that Israeli interference in the region was growing — and so was India’s and Afghanistan’s involvement. He described this as a convergence of interests among all three countries, with Pakistan as the primary target and Iran as a secondary one.

“While Afghanistan provides safe havens, India supplies the money and Israel delivers weapons and intelligence,” he said — a formulation that critics say echoes Pakistan’s long-standing position before international forums.

Why the remarks matter

The remarks have been seized upon as exposing India’s proxy strategy against Pakistan, contradicting New Delhi’s frequent assertions at international forums where it blames Islamabad for cross-border terrorism.

Pakistani security officials have for years maintained that the TTP and BLA use sanctuaries outside Pakistan’s borders to plan and execute attacks against civilians, security forces and public infrastructure.

Pawar’s comments, made voluntarily on a public platform, lend an unusual degree of candour to those claims — particularly given his background in India’s most sensitive special operations units.
