DUBAI: Bahrain and Qatar will resume direct flights on May 25, Arab media reported on Monday.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the restoration of flights between the two Gulf nations comes within the framework of the brotherly ties between the two nations and peoples.

Qatar-Bahrain ties

The state-run news agency of Bahrain reported that the country’s Aviation authority announced the restoration of flights between Bahrain and Qatar. It added that the flights were resumed as per the agreement between the two brotherly nations. The new development comes more than two years after an Arab boycott of Doha was lifted.

The United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Egypt, and Bahrain in January 2021 ended an embargo of Doha. Bahrain had restored trade and travel links with Qatar in 2021.

In January, the crown prince of Bahrain also spoke with the Emir of Qatar by phone, indicating that the two sides were moving toward repairing their ties.

Earlier, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) also welcomed the decision by Bahrain and Qatar to resume their diplomatic relations.
