ISLAMABAD: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of Yasin Malik, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, made a heartfelt appeal on Thursday for India to heed the voices of the Kashmiri people.
She criticized politicians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIJOK) as mere “puppets” who misrepresent the situation for their own electoral gain.
Speaking to PTV News, Mushaal raised concerns about attempts to alter the demographics of IIOJK, a critical issue for Kashmiris. She urged the international community, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to intervene and protect the lives of senior Hurriyat leaders in jail, some facing potential death sentences.
Mushaal condemned the deceitful tactics of local politicians during election campaigns, noting their exploitation of Yasin Malik’s name and their promises to revoke Article 35A. After winning elections, these politicians have shifted their stance, advocating for a more conciliatory relationship with Delhi instead.
She said that the low voter turnout in Kashmir reflects widespread distrust in the electoral process and politicians who fail to represent the people’s true aspirations. Mushaal stated unequivocally that no Kashmiri considers themselves Indian, rejecting Indian governance outright.
Furthermore, she denounced the so-called puppet assemblies in IIJOK as deceptive tools designed to manipulate the Kashmiri populace. Mushaal called on the international community to break its silence and take action against ongoing human rights violations, highlighting the spread of misinformation and distorted narratives by candidates aimed at misleading the people of Kashmir.
