LAHORE: Punjab reported a total of 181 new cases of dengue on Thursday despite a significant drop in temperature.
According to the latest information from the health department, there have been 9,693 reported cases of dengue in Punjab this year. Among these cases, Lahore has the highest number with 4,125 cases, followed by Rawalpindi with 2,312, Multan with 984, Faisalabad with 437, and Gujranwala with 805 cases.
The situation is still ongoing, and in the last 24 hours, Lahore reported 93 new cases of dengue, Rawalpindi had 25, Multan had 16, Gujranwala had 25, and Faisalabad had six new cases.
Additionally, Sheikhupura and Attock each reported three cases of dengue infection, while Sargodha, Sahiwal, and Lodharan each reported two new instances during the same time. Kasur, Muzaffargarh, Narowal, and Nankana Sahib each reported one case of dengue.
Currently, there are 155 dengue patients receiving treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 70 of them being treated in hospitals in the Lahore region.
Secretary Health Punjab, Ali Jaan Khan, strongly urged citizens to maintain clean and dry surroundings as a preventive measure against dengue fever. A free helpline is available through the health department at 1033, and it is crucial to exercise vigilance and take proactive steps to control the spread of dengue in Punjab. —APP
