ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Cabinet Division has issued a notification regarding public holidays to be observed during the next year, 2023.
According to the notification, there will be 38 public and optional holidays in 2023, out of which 16 public holidays and 22 optional holidays.
In the notification of the Cabinet Division, it is stated that February 5, 2023, will be Kashmir Day, March 23, Pakistan Day, and May 1, Labor Day, will be a public holiday.
The notification states that there will be 3 Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on April 22-24, Eid-ul-Adha holidays on June 29, 30, and July 1, and Ashura-Muharram holidays on July 27 and 28.
According to the notification of the Cabinet Division, August 14 will be Independence Day, while September 28 will be the public holiday of Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi.
Islamic Public Holidays
The notification states that November 9 will be Iqbal Day, December 25 Quaid-e-Azam Day, and Christmas, while December 26 will be the post-Christmas public holiday for Christian employees.
In the notification of the cabinet division, it is said that the Islamic holidays for 2023 have been fixed as per the expected date. A separate notification of the Islamic holidays will be issued per the moon’s sighting.
The notification said that out of 16 public holidays in 2023, 2 will fall on Sundays, January 2, and March 22, and July 3 will be bank holidays.
According to the notification, Muslim government employees will not get more than one optional leave in a year, while non-Muslim government employees will not get more than 3 optional leaves in a year.
