PTI’s Ali Muhammad Khan, Ejaz Chaudhry Arrested, Other Bigwigs Moved to Adiala Jail

ISLAMABAD: Police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Ali Muhammad Khan and Ejaz Chaudhary in Islamabad as PTI chief Imran Khan was set to appear in the court in Al-Qadir Trust case on Thursday.

While the already arrested PTI bigwigs Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, and Shah Mehmood Qureshi had been shifted to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.  PTI leaders had been apprehended on charges of sabotaging the peace under Maintenance of Public Order 3.

Asad Umar was the first to be arrested on the premises of the Islamabad High Court, followed by Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest. In contrast, Shah Mehmood Qureshi was arrested from the Gilgit-Baltistan house in Islamabad in the early hours of Thursday.

Talking to the reporters’ minutes before the arrest, Fawad Chaudhry said it was happening for the first time in the history of Pakistan that a Supreme Court lawyer had been arrested on the court’s premises.  He said that Bar Associations had reduced the power of lawyers in their personal conflicts. Fawad Chaudhry said that all the sections of the society were facing challenges now.
