ISLAMABAD: The largest political party in Pakistan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has approached Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and other global forums against “political victimization, assassination attempts, and attacks on PTI.”

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser wrote the letter as he felt it was his responsibility to inform the global forums about the illegal policies and severe human rights violations by the incumbent fascist government.

Through his letter, Asad Qisar urged the global forums to take urgent notice of the situation and play their role in protecting the people of Pakistan from the political genocide, the destruction of democracy, and mayhem.

“As a former speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, I am compelled to reach out and inform you of the ongoing alarmingly violent situation in Pakistan, grave and severe violations of human rights including, abduction, custodial torture, enforced disappearances, assassination attempts, inhuman treatment and murder or prominent journalists and PTI political workers, former and current Members of Parliament, leaders, including the former prime minister of Pakistan, the current Chairman of PTI, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi by the present PDM government in Pakistan in connivance with the law enforcement agencies,” Asad Qaisar wrote.

PTI quit parliament to get a fresh mandate

Informing the global forums that PTI is the most popular political party in Pakistan, Qaiser told the IPU that after heavy political horse-trading in “peculiar” political circumstances, the party quit the National Assembly to get a fresh mandate from the people.

Asad Qaisar claimed that despite being in an “oppressed opposition,” the PTI has won 30 out of 37 by-elections with more than a 50% margin against twelve political parties — part of the coalition government.

“The incumbent government, in collaboration with two caretaker governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, have committed such heinous crimes to suppress political opponents and have adopted such humiliating methods, that the fundamental tenets of humanity, decency and all international covenants on human rights are hanging by a tether,” Asad Qaisar wrote.

He said the “fake criminal complaint” was filed against Imran Khan to force him out of politics. This was followed by a “planned assassination attempt” on the life of Imran Khan, wherein he sustained multiple bullet injuries and fractures along with 11 others that were wounded and one passerby murdered.

Asad Qaisar added that Pakistan’s superior judiciary is under severe attack by the PDM government, which has released a series of “fake audio/videos” to blackmail them.

“If this was not enough, the government is now planning to ban Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf as a political party, followed by an unconstitutional refusal by the state institutions to conduct elections for two provincial assemblies in violation of clear orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

“The current Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif has gone so far as to term to the PTI workers’ militants for resisting violence and his niece, Maryam Nawaz; a PML-N leader has made genocidal statements regarding the ethnicity of mainstream political workers.”
