ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan Wednesday announced that ex-Chairman Imran Khan is set to contest elections from three constituencies: Lahore, Mianwali, and Islamabad.
Addressing the media in Rawalpindi, Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf Barrister Gohar Khan emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8. He expressed the party’s eagerness to participate in the electoral process and stressed the involvement of political parties in the democratic exercise.
Barrister Gohar lamented the handling of the nomination papers, stating that it was disheartening that they were taken from the secretary of the vice-chairman of PTI. He considered it a matter of shame and asserted that the election must proceed.
He informed that he had obtained permission from the court to collect nomination papers and would present them to Imran Khan. The PTI leader affirmed Imran Khan’s active participation in the election and emphasized the need to submit the nomination papers.
Regarding the allocation of tickets, Barrister Gohar assured that decisions would be made soon under the guidance of Imran Khan. He highlighted the strict measures taken this time, indicating that Imran Khan would play a crucial role in deciding the candidates for the elections.
Barrister Gohar reiterated that it was the right of PTI workers for Imran Khan to make these decisions, emphasizing that he was, is, and will remain the chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf.
He revealed that despite his efforts, the list of election candidates had not been sent to Imran Khan. Barrister Gohar Khan concluded by announcing that Imran Khan would contest from Mianwali, Lahore, and Islamabad in the upcoming elections.
