LAHORE: A magnificent century by Fakhar Zaman powered defending champions Lahore Qalandars to a formidable total of 197 against Quetta Gladiators at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, Lahore’s innings recovered from an early jolt when pacer Khalil Ahmed removed Mohammad Farooq for just four runs off five deliveries.

Fakhar Zaman then joined Abdullah Shafique to steady the ship with a composed 57-run partnership, taking the team past the 50-run mark. Abrar Ahmed broke the stand by dismissing Shafique for 14 off 15 balls, leaving Lahore at 64-2.

Zaman continued aggressively, bringing up his 26th PSL half-century with a flurry of boundaries. Alongside Charith Asalanka, he built another crucial 96-run partnership that carried Lahore beyond 100. The left-handed opener then registered his third PSL century, displaying exceptional stroke play to propel the score past 150.
Brett Hampton eventually removed Asalanka for 31 off 24 deliveries, ending their stand. Fakhar fell soon after for a brilliant 103 off just 51 balls, an innings featuring 11 fours and six sixes, as Usman Tariq struck. Khalil Ahmed returned for his second wicket, dismissing Sikandar Raza for five.
Shaheen Afridi was run out for eight by Alzarri Joseph, while Daniel Sams remained unbeaten on 18 off 12 balls, hitting one four and a six, as Lahore finished at 197-6.
