LAHORE: With just one week to go until the first ball is bowled, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed the match timings for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), setting the stage for a cricket festival from March 26 to May 3.

According to the schedule released on Thursday, fans can expect a full day of action throughout the 39-day tournament. Day matches are slated to get underway at 2:30 PM PST, providing the perfect afternoon entertainment. As the sun sets, the excitement will continue under the lights, with all night fixtures scheduled to commence at 7:00 PM PST.

A blockbuster opening night in Lahore

While the standard night match timing has been set for 7:00 PM, the tournament opener will enjoy a primetime slot. The curtain-raiser, a high-voltage clash between defending champions Lahore Qalandars and PSL debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen, will have a slightly later start.

The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is set to be packed to the rafters on March 26 as the hosts kick off their title defense against the new franchise, with the match scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM PST.

A new era: Eight teams, six cities

PSL 11 marks a historic expansion of the league. For the first time, eight teams will compete for the coveted trophy, with the inclusion of two new franchises: Hyderabad Kingsmen and RawalPindiz.

The tournament will span 44 matches, utilising six venues across Pakistan. In a significant development for cricket in the country, Faisalabad and Peshawar are set to host PSL matches for the very first time. They join the established cricketing hubs of Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi in the lineup.

Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium remains the centerpiece of the event, hosting the most matches (15), including the final on May 3. The PCB has also wisely scheduled a reserve day for the final on May 4, ensuring a full day’s play to determine the champion.

The playoffs will kick off with Qualifier 1 in Rawalpindi on April 28, before shifting to Lahore for Eliminator 1 (April 29), Eliminator 2 (May 1), and the grand finale.
