Prime Minister Inaugurates ‘School on Wheels’ Project

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘School on Wheels’ project to provide education to children belonging to rural areas of Islamabad.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the prime minister said that without adorning children with the ornament of education, the dream of national development cannot be fulfilled.

The premier appreciated the initiative and directed to widen the program’s scope to all four provinces as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the children getting education through these mobile schools will also be provided with food. The PM added that the project would help to educate children in rural areas who faced a lack of modern education facilities. He also interacted with students and teachers.

Earlier, the Minister for Education Rana Tanveer Hussain briefed the PM on various aspects of the project.

School at the doorstep

The ‘School on Wheels’ project will use eight mobile schools, set up on buses, to provide education to children, particularly, those residing in rural areas.

The vehicles have been equipped with computers, desks, whiteboards, and LCDs to create an effective environment for both teaching and learning.

The prime minister also launched a countrywide spring plantation campaign and asked the public to participate in it to save future generations.
