President Zardari Confers Pakistan’s Civil Awards on 125 Distinguished Personalities

Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Shujaat, and Pride of Performance among honours bestowed on Pakistani nationals and foreigners at Aiwan-e-Sadr ceremony.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari conferred Pakistan’s civil awards upon distinguished personalities in recognition of their exceptional services to the nation across various fields.

The honourees, including both Pakistani citizens and foreign nationals, were decorated at an investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in the capital.

The ceremony was attended by Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, federal ministers, parliamentarians, diplomats, prominent civil society figures, and a large number of guests.

125 personalities honoured across multiple categories

A total of 125 personalities received awards in various categories. Three distinguished individuals were posthumously conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for their outstanding services to the country.

These include the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan and Irfan-ul-Haq Siddiqui.

The Hilal-e-Shujaat was conferred upon eight prominent personalities for acts of bravery. The Hilal-e-Imtiaz was awarded to sixteen individuals, including Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Asghar Nadeem Syed, former cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi, mountaineer Shehroze Kashif, Ehtesham-ul-Haq, and the late Senator Taj Haider.

Foreign diplomat among Sitara-e-Imtiaz recipients

The Sitara-e-Imtiaz was conferred upon the Ambassador of Bahrain, Mohamed Ebrahim Mohamed Abdul Qader, acknowledging his contributions to strengthening bilateral ties.

The Sitara-e-Jurrat was awarded to thirty-eight prominent individuals, including the late Senator Hidayatullah and Liaqat Ali, a courageous son who foiled a suicide attack on a police post in the Jand area of Kohat through his valiant actions.

The Sitara-e-Imtiaz was also conferred upon twenty-two distinguished personalities, including Secretary Interior Captain (Retd) Khurram Agha, Secretary Energy Dr. Muhammad Fakhar-e-Alam Irfan, and Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar.

The Presidential Award of Pride of Performance was conferred upon veteran TV actors Rashid Waheed Khawaja and Zahid Ahmad for their contributions to the entertainment industry.

The Sitara-e-Khidmat was awarded to one personality, Muhammad Saeed Sheikh. The Tamgha-e-Shujaat was given to Assistant Director Intelligence Bureau Shahid Hussain, while the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was conferred upon thirty-four prominent figures, including IG Sindh Javaid Akhtar Odhoo, SSP Operations Islamabad Captain (Retd) Qazi Ali Raza, and CEO SMEDA Nadia Jehangir Seth, in recognition of their outstanding services to the nation.
