ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi stressed the need to focus on providing all possible technology related assistance for the rehabilitation and convenience of special and differently-abled people.
President Alvi was talking to a delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO) and John Hopkins University led by WHO head in Pakistan Dr Palitha Mahipala, here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.
The delegation appreciated the continued efforts of the president and the first lady for the uplift of special persons, mental health, breast cancer and other medical issues.
Meanwhile, Dr Alvi underscored the need to provide skilled education to the special people to help them achieve self-sufficiency and financial independence.
He said society must change its attitudes towards the special people and provide them assistive technology services at primary and community levels.
Role of WHO hailed
Dr Alvi appreciated the WHO for launching the Recovery 2030 plan and also lauded the global health organization and John Hopkins University for conducting the Restorative Leadership Course.
The President called for providing high quality, affordable and safe rehabilitation services to the differently-abled persons. —APP
