ISLAMABAD: Ensuring fair play in the upcoming 2024 General Election, the District Returning Officer (DRO) and District Monitoring Officer (DMO) orchestrated a crucial meeting to launch an awareness campaign and provide a detailed briefing for candidates on the election code of conduct.

The gathering, attended by Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), served as a pivotal platform to foster a clear understanding of the Code of Conduct among all stakeholders, as highlighted by ICT spokesman Dr. Abdullah Tabasum. The meeting, held on Thursday, included all three candidates contending for a seat in the National Assembly (NA).

During the meeting, candidates were meticulously briefed on the intricacies of the election code of conduct, setting the tone for a fair and ethical electoral process. The focus of the discussion revolved around campaign dynamics, providing candidates with invaluable insights to navigate the nuanced landscape of political canvassing.

One notable directive issued was the requirement for candidates to obtain prior permission from the DRO office before organizing rallies. This strategic move aimed to streamline the process, ensuring that public gatherings align with the guidelines for a controlled electoral environment.

Furthermore, candidates were cautioned against making announcements related to campaign development projects during briefings. This precautionary measure aimed to maintain a focus on conveying policies and engaging with voters, avoiding potential distractions from project promises.

As the election fervor gains momentum, the importance of these guidelines cannot be overstated. The meeting served as a crucial milestone, equipping candidates with the knowledge necessary to conduct a campaign that not only resonates with the electorate but also adheres to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Emphasizing the shared responsibility of all participants in the democratic process, the meeting instilled a sense of accountability and transparency. The 2024 General Election is poised to be a testament to the integrity of democratic values as candidates are well-prepared to uphold the election code of conduct.
