ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday predicted that a westerly wave would enter the upper parts of the country on April 15th and subsequently spread to western and central regions.
As a result, most parts of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum are expected to experience rain, dust, or thunderstorms with occasional gaps from 15th to 20th April.
The weather department has also warned against potential damage to infrastructure and crops due to the strong winds, dust, and hailstorms, particularly for the wheat crop.
Moreover, Quetta and several other districts of Balochistan are also expected to receive rainfall on the 17th and 18th of April. Light rain with dust or thunderstorm is also expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana in Sindh, Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G.Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan in southern Punjab, and Lahore, Gujranwala and other districts of central Punjab on 17th and 18th April.
PMD cautions that rainfall may cause landslides or flash floods
The PMD has also cautioned that the rainfall may cause landslides or flash floods in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Murree, and Galiyat on the 18th and 19th of April. The public is advised to take precautionary measures to avoid any potential loss of life or property.
The PMD has warned that the upcoming weather system could bring a mix of rain, dust, and thunderstorms to several parts of Pakistan from this weekend, potentially causing damage to infrastructure and crops. People are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid any potential harm.
