TORONTO: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has denounced the assault on a mosque in Mississauga in Ontario province, which authorities are investigating as a hate crime, local media reported on Friday. Rights advocates have attributed this incident to the escalating Islamophobia trend in the country.
According to police reports, an individual hurled two rocks through the window of the Mississauga’s Mosque on Sunday, coinciding with the anniversary of the tragic mosque attack in Quebec City in 2017, claiming the lives of six individuals. CBC News reported that no one was injured in the incident.
Prime Minister Trudeau said in a statement via social media that Islamophobia has no place in any of their communities.
