The IDCPC is an agency directly under the CPC Central Committee. It is responsible for managing party-to-party relations, conducting foreign exchanges with political parties and organisations around the world, and gathering political insights to support China’s foreign policy.
Islamabad and Beijing have maintained close diplomatic and strategic ties, with regular exchanges between their political leadership and ruling party officials forming an important part of their bilateral relationship.
Recently, Pakistan and China signed an agreement to operationalise a green channel at the Sost-Khunjerab border for agricultural and allied products to facilitate bilateral trade. Khunjerab Pass connects Gilgit-Baltistan with China’s Xinjiang region and is the highest paved international border at 15,500 feet above sea level.
China has also committed more than $65 billion in investments in road networks, infrastructure, and development projects in Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In addition, several Chinese private-sector manufacturers have entered into joint ventures with Pakistani partners.
