Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the withdrawal of the “Curative Review Reference” against Supreme Court senior judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement-led coalition government has decided not to pursue the reference against Justice Isa.
Prime Minister Sharif directed Law Minister Nazir Tarar to withdraw the ‘Curative Review Reference’ against Justice Isa.
In a tweet, PM Sharif said that Justice Qazi Faez Isa and his family were harassed and defamed in the name of reference. The reference against Justice Qazi Faez was not a reference, it was a vengeance of Imran Niazi against a just judge. “It was a sinister conspiracy to attack the independence of the judiciary and divide it,” he said. The PML-N and its allies had condemned the reference when they were in the opposition.
On my direction, the government has decided to withdraw the Curative Review Petition against senior most Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Qazi Faez Isa. The Curative Review was based on ill-will & meant to harass & intimidate the honourable Judge at the behest of Imran Niazi.

Sharif further said that Imran Niazi misused the constitutional position of the President for this criminal act. President Arif Alvi became a pawn and was a part of lies in the criminal attack on the judiciary. He said that lawyers’ organisations including Pakistan Bar Council had also opposed the reference. “We respect and appreciate the opinion of lawyers’ organisations, including the Pakistan Bar Council on the reference.”
