ISLAMABAD/JEDDAH: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight (PK741) faced a delay of up to 16 hours after the window glass of Boeing 777 broke during landing at the Jeddah Airport.

PIA sources said that the return of the flight has delayed because the PIA crew did not have any replacement for the broken window glass.

Flight delay

Over 300 passengers faced an ordeal of inconvenience due to the flight delay.

The PIA plane, which had reached Jeddah from Islamabad on Wednesday, was to return on Thursday.

According to PIA sources, the replacement window glass for the plane has been sent to Jeddah through flight PK731 from Karachi.

The delay in the return of the flight will affect the schedule of flights to Jeddah till Friday, the sources said.

At least eight flights and over 2,000 passengers will be affected by the delay, the sources said.

“The plane’s window glass was broken during landing after being hit by something external to the plane,” a PIA spokesperson said.

He said, “the plane will return home after the new window glass is installed in place of the broken one.”
