NEW DELHI: PayPal is cutting around 380 jobs across India and Ireland as the US payments company pushes ahead with a multi-year restructuring aimed at simplifying its global operations.
Around 220 positions are being eliminated in India, while approximately 160 jobs are being cut in Ireland, according to a source familiar with the matter cited by Investing.com.
The Irish reductions represent nearly 12% of PayPal’s approximately 1,380 full-time employees in the country.
Reports in Ireland put the proposed number of redundancies slightly higher, at 164 positions across different levels of the company. The cuts are expected to take place between October 7 and 21.
Ireland’s Department of Enterprise confirmed that it received notification of proposed collective redundancies from PayPal Europe Services Ltd. on August 28.
PayPal Reshapes Global Operations
PayPal said the staffing changes were part of a previously announced transformation programme intended to streamline its international operations.

“The proposed staffing changes are part of our previously announced multi-year transformation to simplify our global operations, strengthen execution, and position the company for long-term growth,” a PayPal spokesperson said.
The company acknowledged the impact of the reductions on employees and said it was committed to supporting affected workers through the transition.
Reports of potential job cuts had previously circulated on workplace platforms, including Blind, before details emerged about reductions in India and Ireland.
The latest layoffs underline PayPal’s continuing efforts to reshape its global workforce and operating structure as the digital payments company seeks greater efficiency and stronger long-term execution.
