RAMALLAH: Most Palestinian will remember 2022 as a difficult and painful year in terms of the scale of Israeli aggression, human loss and election of an extreme-right-wing government in Israel that will further deny them their due rights.

Palestinian government spokesman Ibrahim Melhem said that 2022 was the worst year in terms of high numbers of Palestinian casualties by the Israeli army, Arab News reported on Sunday. As per official figures, 225 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip and West Bank over the past twelve months.

However, Melhem voiced hope that Arab and international solidarity with the Palestinian cause could bring positive effects, which was publicly displayed at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in the gulf country Qatar. He said that the international organizations had showed a better understanding of the rights and demands of the Palestinian people.

The leader of Fatah movement in Jerusalem Ahmed Ghuneim said that the most positive occurrence in the previous year was the emergence of a new generation of Palestinian resistance fighters that were represented by the Lions’ Den group in Nablus and others in Balata, Jenin and other parts.
