ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has yet to receive the full record from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to investigate alleged foreign funding into accounts of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Sources said that due to the unavailability of the full record, no progress could be made by the FIA to launch an investigation into the alleged foreign funds received by the PTI.
In October 2022, the ECP provided a preliminary record to the FIA containing a report about the PTI’s foreign funding.
Investigations are also under way into the PTI’s accounts of the party’s general secretariat and media centre.
Investigations are also going on regarding PTI’s women’s wing bank accounts.
Former Sindh governor Imran Ismail is also part of the FIA’s investigation.
